Maths

INTENT

to provide a high-quality, inclusive, engaging and fun curriculum that fosters a love of Maths and enables all learners to make strong progress. Our focus is on developing learners’ confidence, competence, and perseverance in Maths, and supporting them to overcome barriers and to foster a love of Maths.

IMPLEMENTATION

The Maths curriculum that is tailored to the diverse needs of our learners. We begin by assessing each learner’s initial Mathematical understanding and use this to inform the design of their learning journey.

Our subject content is delivered across six areas of study: Number, Algebra, Ratio and Proportion, Geometry and Measure, Statistics and Probability which are built upon with increasing intensity. We create a supportive classroom environment that encourages risk-taking and celebrates effort and progress. We recognise that some learners may need additional support to overcome any barriers to success in Maths, such as poor confidence, weak basic skills, or emotional difficulties. Our teachers work closely with teaching assistants, support staff, and other professionals to provide the necessary support and interventions.

IMPACT

The impact of our Maths provision is reflected in our learners’ progress, achievement, and enjoyment of Maths. Our learners are better equipped to solve mathematical problems, reason mathematically and apply mathematical skills in a range of contexts. Furthermore, our learners have developed more positive attitudes towards Maths and have an increased sense of confidence and resilience in their ability to succeed in the subject and careers after Invested Education.
