King's Trust

INTENT

The King’s Trust programme is designed to provide students with the personal, social and employability skills they need to succeed. Its intent is to re-engage students who may be at risk of underachievement, whilst also offering all students the opportunity to build resilience, teamwork and leadership skills that prepare them for life beyond school.

IMPLEMENTATION

The programme is implemented through the Achieve curriculum, which is accredited from Entry Level to Level 2. It uses a project-based and practical style of learning, covering areas such as personal development, wellbeing, life skills, active citizenship and employability. Instead of being assessed solely by exams, students complete portfolios, reflective tasks and group projects. This flexible delivery model allows the programme to be adapted to different school timetables and student needs.

IMPACT

The impact of the programme is significant. Students completing The King’s Trust courses often demonstrate increased confidence, motivation and engagement in learning. Positive impacts on attendance, behaviour and teamwork is the aim. The skills gained are transferable and valued by employers and colleges, with many students successfully progressing into further education, apprenticeships or employment. Importantly, the programme reduces the risk of young people becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training).
