Art
INTENT
Our intention is to develop understanding of techniques and materials used when creating artwork and be able to apply knowledge learnt into their own artwork and take inspiration from other notable artists/artwork. Students will have the opportunity to increase proficiency in handling of varied materials such as paints and camera/photography work and are able to explore and use different techniques in journals, sketchbooks, and other media. Students will analyse their own work and that of others in the class/examples to strengthen their own skills and have some knowledge of key periods in time and movements that have inspired artists/artwork and gain knowledge of the history of art, craft, design and architecture with plenty of opportunity to develop and explore their own creativity.
IMPLEMENTATION
Using a range of approaches to allow students to experience different methods and techniques such as painting, sketching, model making and photography. Encourage creativity and foster imaginative thinking through giving options and choices for final pieces. Opportunity for collaborative projects with classmates to encourage teamwork and learn from each other. Opportunities for spiritual, moral, social, cultural, emotional, intellectual development through introduction of diverse artistic traditions and historical contexts. As well as choice-based assignments, scaffolded and additional support for students who need guidance.
IMPACT
